Dexter star Michael C. Hall has revealed that his serial killer character will struggle to contain his emotions in the upcoming fifth season.
Viewers saw Dexter’s wife Rita (Julie Benz) murdered by the Trinity killer (John Lithgow) in the fourth season finale.
Hall told The Examiner: “I think, in as much as he is consciously connected to his emotional life, it’s a very challenging time. I think there are more subterranean feelings he will be struggling with.”

New interview with Jennifer and co-star James Remar from Comic-Con!
I’m running on a Dexter high — not only is the season five trailer a bundle of intensity, but I also had the chance to chat with stars Jennifer Carpenter and James Remar at Comic-Con this past weekend along with a few other reporters. The two actors dished on what we can expect from their characters this season and what impact they’ll have on TV’s most charming serial killer.
Is Deb getting closer to figuring out Dexter’s secret?
Jennifer Carpenter: It’s interesting because we pick up right where we left off. His grief looks nothing like Deborah’s grief. I can’t help but play that there’s something wrong with that. That just sort of happened; I don’t feel like the writers were layering it in; that’s what happened, that’s how I felt. The suspicions are all there, the instinct is there — she has to have incredible instinct to do what she does. I think she fuses the pieces together so that she learns her brother is a serial killer. But I’m ready for her to find out. I’m ready to play that scene, whatever it looks like. I’m going to start stretching now so I’m ready. I don’t want to pull anything.

There is an interview with Michael C. Hall that is pretty interesting, you can read it here!
Also a short article on Michael and Jennifer.
Michael C. Hall looked happy and healthy at San Diego’s Comic-Con this week, appearing in support of the fifth season of ‘Dexter.’ The 38-year-old star fully recovered from cancer just months ago.
Hall’s wife, Jennifer Carpenter, called him “incredibly brave” when speaking about the battle in an AP interview in April. Hall announced in January that he was in remission after being diagnosed with a treatable form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” Hall said in January.
Throughout his treatment, Hall remained in the spotlight thanks to a busy awards season, during which he received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for his performance on the critically acclaimed Showtime drama.
