The Show
Now in his Fourth Season, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) finds himself married and with a new baby, trying to juggle the demands of his career as a crime scene investigator, his family responsibilities, and his duties as a serial killer. Yes, much as he did in the First Season, Second Season and Third Season, Dex is leading a double life and then some, which leads to all sorts of internal (he’s haunted by the memory of his dead father, played by James Remar) and external conflicts, often with darkly comic results.
His wife (Julie Benz) loves him dearly, as does his foul-mouthed sister (Jennifer Carpenter), a police detective who has no clue about her big brother’s shenanigans. Or does she…? His victims are strictly bad, bad guys, and he only kills when he’s sure they deserve it, a personal code which imparts a very bizarre morality to it all.
This time around he’s drawn into the world of another murderer (John Lithgow) who has been following a “trinity” pattern for decades, across the entire United States. Figuring out what to do next, and then following through on that plan is no simple matter, and it all leads to a shocking, very bloody conclusion for the season.

The intense season five trailer for Dexter got us all pumped and primed for the return of the show this Fall, and when I was at TCA last week, I shared exciting details from the panel. Now I have even more: an exclusive video interview with Dexter Morgan himself, Michael C. Hall! The actor reiterates the focus of the season: Dexter‘s guilt in the aftermath of his wife’s murder, plus, he dishes on working with wife Jennifer Carpenter and what it’s like to play a serial killer. Watch!

Dexter star Michael C. Hall has revealed that his serial killer character will struggle to contain his emotions in the upcoming fifth season.
Viewers saw Dexter’s wife Rita (Julie Benz) murdered by the Trinity killer (John Lithgow) in the fourth season finale.
Hall told The Examiner: “I think, in as much as he is consciously connected to his emotional life, it’s a very challenging time. I think there are more subterranean feelings he will be struggling with.”

New interview with Jennifer and co-star James Remar from Comic-Con!
I’m running on a Dexter high — not only is the season five trailer a bundle of intensity, but I also had the chance to chat with stars Jennifer Carpenter and James Remar at Comic-Con this past weekend along with a few other reporters. The two actors dished on what we can expect from their characters this season and what impact they’ll have on TV’s most charming serial killer.
Is Deb getting closer to figuring out Dexter’s secret?
Jennifer Carpenter: It’s interesting because we pick up right where we left off. His grief looks nothing like Deborah’s grief. I can’t help but play that there’s something wrong with that. That just sort of happened; I don’t feel like the writers were layering it in; that’s what happened, that’s how I felt. The suspicions are all there, the instinct is there — she has to have incredible instinct to do what she does. I think she fuses the pieces together so that she learns her brother is a serial killer. But I’m ready for her to find out. I’m ready to play that scene, whatever it looks like. I’m going to start stretching now so I’m ready. I don’t want to pull anything.

There is an interview with Michael C. Hall that is pretty interesting, you can read it here!
Also a short article on Michael and Jennifer.
Michael C. Hall looked happy and healthy at San Diego’s Comic-Con this week, appearing in support of the fifth season of ‘Dexter.’ The 38-year-old star fully recovered from cancer just months ago.
Hall’s wife, Jennifer Carpenter, called him “incredibly brave” when speaking about the battle in an AP interview in April. Hall announced in January that he was in remission after being diagnosed with a treatable form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition, and I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” Hall said in January.
Throughout his treatment, Hall remained in the spotlight thanks to a busy awards season, during which he received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for his performance on the critically acclaimed Showtime drama.

DreadCentral posted some stills from Jennifer’s upcoming film The Factory – I will try to find them in HQ!

- The Factory: Production Stills
Its release date is still up in the air, but some new stills from The Factory starring John Cusack and Jennifer Carpenter have shown up online, and we have them for you here.
IM Global is home to the goods from director Morgan O’Neill’s The Factory, which he co-wrote with Paul Leyden. Along with Cusack and Carpenter, the film’s co-stars are Mae Whitman (“Parenthood“, “In Treatment“), Sonya Walger (“FlashForward“, “Lost“), Michael Trevino (“The Vampire Diaries“), and Cindy Sampson (“Supernatural“).
The synopsis follows:
“Rugged and obsessive detective Mike Fletcher and his partner, Kelsey Walker, are on the trail of a serial killer who prowls the streets targeting young streetwalkers. When Fletcher’s teenage daughter disappears, he discovers the killer has kidnapped her after mistaking her for a hooker. His obsession goes into overdrive when he drops all professional restraint to get to the killer and save his child.”
The cast and crew got back to work yesterday on Showtime’s hit series, “Dexter.” Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz were all spotted on the set as filming on the fifth season of the sensational pseudo serial killer chronicle continued.
By this point in the article, you should be thinking to yourself, “um, what?!?!” Since as we all know Julie Benz’s character Rita was brutally and shockingly murdered in the fourth season finale [read PopWrap's postmortem with Julie]. Fret not, the epic and emotional ender wasn’t a dream or something of the like despite the fact Rita is returning — it’s only for one episode.
But how? Why? And how? I’ll allow Julie to shed some light (emphasis on “some”) on Rita’s return. “Rita is not going to be a ghost! The writers would never do something so cheesy,” she told E! Online. “If she does come back, it would be to move things along.”
